Da Nang Seeks High-Tech Partnership with Oregon to Boost Semiconductor Sector
11. September 2025The Vietnamese city of Da Nang has proposed a strategic collaboration with the U.S. State of Oregon, focusing on key sectors including semiconductor technology, logistics, and free trade zone (FTZ) infrastructure development. The proposal was presented by Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee, during a meeting with an Oregon delegation led by State Representative Daniel Loc Nguyen, Chair of the Committee on Economic Development, Trade and Small Business. Equipment and machinery used in chip production usually require CR Certification in order to be approved for import and sale in Vietnam.

Da Nang aims to strengthen ties with the United States—particularly Oregon—in high-tech manufacturing, semiconductors, AI, and sectors such as agriculture, forestry, trade, and consulting services. Mr. Minh highlighted the city’s ambition to develop a free trade zone and an international financial center, supported by favorable policies. He invited Oregon-based companies to explore investment opportunities in Da Nang, especially through lab-based models facilitating global partnerships in microchip research, design, packaging, and testing. Mr. Nguyen reaffirmed Oregon’s interest in expanding cooperation with Da Nang, underscoring the state’s status as a high-tech hub known as the “Silicon Forest,” home to more than 6,000 tech firms including Intel, Tektronix, and HP.
