Vietnam Expands Wind Energy Capacity with Tan Thuan Plant’s Third Phase
16. October 2025On October 14, Ca Mau Investment Renewable Power JSC launched the third phase of the Tan Thuan Wind Power Plant in Ca Mau Province, Vietnam’s southernmost region. This new phase will add 25 megawatts (MW) of capacity, featuring four offshore wind turbines rated at 6.25 MW each. The development also includes essential components such as a power metering system, inland waterway port, operations center, warehouse, and supporting on-site electrical infrastructure. Equipment and components used in power plants usually require CR certification in order to be approved for import and sale in Vietnam.

Scheduled to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2026, the third phase is projected to contribute roughly 61.5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually to the national grid. The first and second phases, launched in December 2019 with a combined capacity of 75 MW and an investment exceeding VND3.8 trillion (approximately USD 144 million), are already delivering around 225 million kWh per year.
