Vietnam Targets 33 Airports by 2030 in Strategic Infrastructure Push

4. December 2025

Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAV) has proposed updates to the national airport master plan for 2021–2030, targeting a network of 33 airports by the end of the decade. The inclusion of Mang Den and Van Phong airports is a strategic move to enhance connectivity, drive tourism, and improve logistics capabilities, particularly in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions. These developments support broader regional planning efforts and reflect the country’s ambition to integrate aviation growth with national economic priorities. Many products used in airports usually require CR certification in order to be approved for import and sale in Vietnam.

The aviation sector in Vietnam is undergoing significant transformation, driven by record-high passenger volumes, strategic infrastructure investments, and rapid adoption of digital technologies. Key upgrades, such as Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat and the upcoming Long Thanh International Airport, aim to relieve congestion and expand capacity. Additionally, innovations like biometric verification systems and AI-powered tools for regulatory and fuel efficiency signal a shift toward modernization. With air traffic expected to grow 8.1% annually through 2030, Vietnam is positioned as Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing aviation market.
